One Astor Plaza from the Empire State Building

Here's a zoomed in shot of One Astor Plaza, as seen from the roof of the Empire State Building. (Or ES, as a friend and I affectionately call it)

The crown on this skyscraper caused some controversy, as flat roofs were pretty much mandated by the architectural fashion of the time. But I just love this finned, spiky crown, and I'm glad the architect (Der Scutt of Kahn and Jacobs) had the guts to break with architectural dogma here.
